Cadillac XT4 Sells Out in the US as the Last New Units Leave Dealer Lots

Twenty-one months after production ended, new Cadillac XT4s have vanished from US inventory. What that means for owners, used-car shoppers and anyone who wanted one.

The Cadillac XT4 is now effectively sold out in the US. A check of Cadillac's dealer inventory search and of Cars.com by GM Authority, published October 19, 2026, found no new XT4s listed for sale. A stray unit could still be sitting unlisted on a lot somewhere, but the brand's smallest gas-powered crossover has run out of new stock about 21 months after the last one was built.

Cadillac's own SUV lineup on cadillac.com no longer includes the XT4. The model continues in China, where the SAIC-GM joint venture builds it for the local market.

How the XT4 wound down

GM ended XT4 production at its Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas, in January 2025. The company first planned only a pause while it retooled Fairfax for the next-generation Chevrolet Bolt, a $391 million project, then decided in late 2024 to drop the XT4 for good. Sales had already slipped: Motor1 reported 15,688 US sales through September 2024, down 11.9 percent from a year earlier.

Leftover stock lasted far longer than the production run. GM Authority tracked the decline:

  • July 2025: about 2,000 new XT4s in dealer inventory
  • October 2025: roughly 500
  • December 2025: fewer than 150
  • April 2026: fewer than 20 new 2025 models, plus a handful of 2024s
  • September 2026: two

The XT4 arrived for the 2019 model year as Cadillac's entry-level crossover and was refreshed for 2024 with new styling and a 33-inch curved display. The final US models used a 235-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, rated at 258 lb-ft, paired with a nine-speed automatic and front- or all-wheel drive.

Cadillac has not announced a direct gas-powered replacement. The next-generation gas models GM has named for the US are the XT5, CT5 and XT6, due from 2027 into 2028, and CarExpert reports that no US successor is planned for the XT4.

Buyer brief

What it means for owners

  • Your warranty and service do not change. A discontinued model keeps its factory coverage. Cadillac's standard terms are 4 years or 50,000 miles bumper to bumper and 6 years or 70,000 miles on the powertrain, counted from the date the car was first delivered. Any Cadillac dealer can service an XT4.
  • Parts supply should stay healthy. The XT4's 2.0-liter turbo engine, known internally as the LSY, is also used in the current XT5, which helps keep engine parts in GM's system. Body panels and trim unique to the XT4 are more likely to need ordering, so keep an eye on lead times after a collision.
  • Recalls still apply. Run your VIN through the NHTSA lookup at nhtsa.gov/recalls from time to time. Open campaigns are fixed free at any Cadillac dealer, whether or not the model is still sold.
  • Plan for life after warranty. Once the bumper-to-bumper warranty ends, a scan tool or an OBD2 app such as Dashbird can read the trouble codes behind a check-engine light before you book a dealer visit.

What it means for shoppers

If you wanted a new small Cadillac with a gas engine, that option is gone. The cheapest Cadillac SUV on sale now is the 2026 XT5, which starts at $44,800 before destination, according to Cadillac. The electric Optiq starts at $49,995.

The used market is where XT4s remain. The 2024 and 2025 models carry the refreshed cabin and big display, and some will still have factory coverage left. Cadillac certified pre-owned cars keep the remaining original bumper-to-bumper warranty, so check the in-service date on any car you consider, along with its recall and service history.
