GM Still Has Only a Reset for 2027 Cadillac Vistiq OnStar Dropouts

An October 16 bulletin update moves the 2027 Lyriq and Optiq to a separate bulletin but keeps the Vistiq on an interim OnStar module reset while engineers investigate.

GM has narrowed its bulletin on 2027 models that lose their OnStar connection, and the Cadillac Vistiq is the only Cadillac still on it. A revision dated October 16, 2026, removes the 2027 Lyriq and Optiq, along with several other GM models, and says they are now covered by a separate bulletin. For the Vistiq, the remedy is still a temporary reset of the OnStar module at the dealer while GM engineers search for the root cause.

The problem

GM first issued preliminary bulletin PIT6534 on August 17, 2026. It describes 2027 vehicles that lose their Wi-Fi hotspot, show a frozen navigation display and drop OnStar connected services. The failure is not intermittent: once it appears, it persists through repeated drive cycles.

The August version also spelled out what is at stake. Features that rely on OnStar, including Super Cruise, can stop working, and the OnStar button may turn red. GM warned that an OnStar emergency call may not go through if a crash happens while the system is down.

That first list named eleven 2027 models across Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC, among them the Lyriq, Optiq and Vistiq. The October revision, PIT6534A, trims it to the Vistiq, Chevrolet Blazer EV, Corvette and Equinox, and GMC Terrain. GM's revision note says the removed models are now handled by bulletin 26-NA-282, which had not appeared in NHTSA's public files as of October 23, so its contents are not known.

One related public document exists. GM's over-the-air release notes for the 2027 Lyriq, filed with NHTSA, list a Telematics 2026.3 update dated September 30 that promises more reliable OnStar, hotspot and navigation connections and better emergency calling. GM has not said whether that update is the remedy behind 26-NA-282, and no matching note for the Vistiq had appeared in NHTSA's files by October 23.

The interim repair

For the Vistiq and the other vehicles still listed, the dealer removes the OnStar telematics module to reach its backup battery, unplugs the battery for five minutes, then reconnects everything. The technician clears the trouble codes and checks that the light beside the blue OnStar button is green. If the reset does not work, normal diagnostics follow.

GM tells dealers to let customers know that engineering is still investigating, that the vehicle is fine to drive, and that the reset may need repeating if the fault returns. The job is allotted half an hour of labor under the bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Owner brief

What it means for owners

  • Who is affected: 2027 Vistiq owners whose hotspot, navigation or OnStar services stop working and stay down after restarting the vehicle. Owners of a 2027 Lyriq or Optiq with the same symptoms should ask their dealer about bulletin 26-NA-282.
  • Warning signs: a red OnStar indicator, a frozen map, no hotspot, and Super Cruise unavailable at the same time.
  • Take it seriously: while OnStar is offline, automatic crash response may not work. Book the visit promptly, and until then keep a phone within reach so you can call 911 yourself.
  • What the dealer does: the module reset described above, at no cost under Cadillac's four-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Ask for the bulletin number on the repair order so any repeat visits are documented.
  • If it comes back: GM says another reset may be needed if the fault returns. Go back to the dealer and reference the earlier repair order.
  • Recalls: this is not a recall. Still run your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls; certain 2026 and 2027 Vistiq models have an open third-row seat recall, campaign 26V394.
