Used Cadillac Lyriq prices slip as off-lease EVs reach dealer lots
Average asking prices for used Lyriqs fell 3.9% in September, and wholesale EV values eased in October. A 4.9% certified pre-owned rate adds another reason to shop now.
The average asking price of a used Cadillac Lyriq fell 3.9% in September, among the larger declines Cox reported for high-volume used electric models, according to Cox Automotive's EV Market Monitor published October 16, 2026. Auction data released three days later points the same way: wholesale EV values slipped in the first half of October as more cars coming off lease reached the market.
The numbers
Cox tracks dealer listings across the country. In September:
- The average used EV was listed at $36,767, down 1.8% from August but still 6.4% higher than a year earlier.
- Several popular non-Tesla models led the decline: the Nissan Ariya fell 5.9%, the Lyriq 3.9%, the BMW iX 3.8% and the Chevrolet Blazer EV 3%. Tesla's average listing price rose 1.4%.
- Used EV sales reached an estimated 47,862, a record 3.3% of all used-vehicle sales.
- Used EVs spent less time on lots than gas and hybrid models: 35 days of supply against 46.
Cox's Manheim index, which measures what dealers pay at wholesale auctions, showed EV values down 0.7% in the first half of October while values for other vehicles rose 0.7%. EVs remain 6.8% higher than a year ago, a gain Cox ties to elevated gas prices, but the report says that momentum is fading as off-lease EVs come to market. The luxury segment as a whole is now slightly below last year's wholesale levels.
Why Lyriqs are coming back now
The Lyriq has been on sale since the 2023 model year, which makes it the Cadillac EV with the most cars old enough to come off a two- or three-year lease. Cox points to off-lease returns as a growing source of used EV supply across the market. More supply tends to soften prices, but the short days-of-supply figure is a reminder that well-priced cars still sell quickly.
Cadillac's certified pre-owned offer
Cadillac is offering 4.9% APR for 60 months on select certified pre-owned Lyriqs for well-qualified buyers who finance through Cadillac Financial, about $18.83 a month for every $1,000 borrowed. The offer covers 2023, 2024 and 2025 models, excludes 2026 and 2027 Lyriqs, and runs until January 4, 2027. A matching 4.9% rate applies to certified 2025 Optiqs.
Certified cars go through a 172-point inspection, and Cadillac adds a 1-year, unlimited-mile limited warranty that starts when the original 4-year, 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage runs out. Cadillac's certified pre-owned page also says GM has dealers finish every open safety recall before a certified car is listed or sold.
Buyer brief
What it means for buyers
- Price the alternatives. A non-certified Lyriq may be listed lower, but the certified version brings the inspection, the extra warranty year and the 4.9% rate. Compare the total cost of each over the loan, not just the sticker.
- Check the warranty clock. Bumper-to-bumper coverage runs from the car's original in-service date, so a 2023 Lyriq may have little left. Ask the dealer to print the remaining coverage, including the EV battery and component warranty, by VIN.
- Look up recalls yourself. Run the VIN through the NHTSA lookup at nhtsa.gov/recalls, even on a certified car.
- Plan for charging. Lyriqs before the 2027 model year use the older CCS1 port and need an adapter at Tesla Superchargers. Ask whether one comes with the car.
- Watch, but do not wait too long. Wholesale data suggests prices may keep easing as more leases end, but tight used EV supply means the best-equipped, lowest-mileage cars still go fast.
